Cerrina
Description In 1970 it was announced that this track would have been reopened after 10 years, so this means that it was built between late 1950s and early 1960s.
In September 1971 there was a proposal for lengthen the circuit towards North, where there was already a track that could have been used. There were economical problems and I don’t know if this proposal was never developed. Few weeks later (October 1971?) some changes were rumoured: the track should have been widened up to 11 m - 36 ft, a new straight should have been opposite to start/finish one and safety should have been improved. In 1972 it hosted European Kart Championship, then probably the circuit was closed because of economical problems. Blue map is older (I don’t know its date) and is quite approximated; the red one is updated on June 22nd 1999. Track was modified in 2001.
Direction to be confirmed: in 1999 it was clockwise, but possibly in 1970s it was anticlockwise.

In 1971, during kart world championship (100 cc) american drivers used the first Goodyear tyres 7.10" wide: they were so good that some drivers said that "it seemed to drive a F.1".
Alessandro Di Gregorio reported me an opinion by Beppe Gabbiani about this track: «The only time I went to Cerrina it was during world championship won by Goldstein over Hans Heyer. At that time this track was one of the best ever (today it could be compared to S.Pancrazio)»

Cerrina Race track
Description Since 1999 the circuit was used for not professional karting events only. Track was modified in 2001 in order to create e slower section, more suitable for kart for hire. At the end of 2005 safety was improved by installing new catch fences. Today (2005) it is used by karts (races, private tests for hire), Supermotard, motorbike for hire (i.e. Ducati from Turin in 2003) and safety driving school. On aerial photos I think I can recognize a small circuit (blue on the last map), separated from the main one, but I don’t know what it is. On March 5th 2007 racing activity restarts again after a very long stop

Description by Alessandro Di Gregorio
  • SuperMotard Track: Layout used for SuperMotard races (I’m not completely sure about thi sinfo, as motorbikes used also some dirt sections close to the track and somewhere they cut some corner of the circuit) and by events and meetings.
  • Kart Track (long circuit): Layout used for more powerful kart for hire (and I think also for some event or test of 100 and 125 kart)
  • Kart Track (short circuit): Layout used only by kart for hire and maybe for road education lessons. External edge of some corners are approximated, because they are made with tyre walls.
  • Kart Track (night hire): Layout used only by kart for night hire
  • Abandoned sections: I have never seen the use of this sections. I noticed a chicane on the higher section of the track, but it’s closed by tyres, and a short straight just before the bend before start/finish straight. I think the latter is a residue of the old layout used in 1970s.
