SHIRAOI CAR LAND
HOKKAIDO SPEEDWAY
Description The track opened in 1970 as Hokkaido Speedway. The first owner was Sakata Construction Company.
The inaugural event was held on July 4th and 5th 1970. That was also the first major motor race in Hokkaido. Car Graphic of Japanese magazine (published on September 1970) reported that 32.000 spectators had come to the event.

However, in 1973, the track was closed due to some fatal accidents, financial problem and noise pollution. After that the track used to use by illegal street racers and fatal accident happened. Therefore, the track cut the surface and nobody could use. (source by F1 Club No.24 of Japanese magazine published on April 19th 1999)

And then, ownership of the site had changed several times but the track never reopened until 2001.

According to official website of Shiraoi Car Land, SHIRAOI CARLAND,inc. established and began to rebuild the track in 1990. 11 years later, they reopened the track as Shiraoi Car Land finally. In 2002 they were opened the dirt track out side the main course. Cross country course opened in 2003. Short course was built inside the main course in 2006 and extended 400 meters in 2007.
