CORFU / ΚΈΡΚΥΡΑ
Description Street circuit similat to Montecarlo, used from 1959 to 1971 in two different layouts, both for car and motorbike races. Long circuit was always used, but in 1967 when a shorter track was used. Now (2004) there is a porposal for a F.3 race there, using a cirucit quite similar to the 1967 one.

The Italian drivers Leto di Priolo, Alfa Romeo test driver, and Alberto Nicosia participated in the early 1960s. The Italian motorcyclist Perone won there in 1970 with Matchless and Franco Trabalzini in 1971 with Gilera 500 Saturno.

Revival 2005
(description by Nikos A. Tsentikopoulos)
On March 26th 2005 the Motorcycle Club of Corfu organized a revival of the street circuit. It was not a real revival because the track was not closed to traffic. Nevertheless the riders run at relatively high speed 3 laps of the circuit. It was a sensation! Special guest was the Italian Gianni Perrone, winner of 1971 (I think he was second in 1970), who brought with him and raced the very winning motorcycle of 1971 and other models as well. Check out www.kelemo.gr (in Greek) for nice photos of the event. As far as I know they will repeat the event in 2006. You know, there’s a serious movement for the revival of the circuit.
