Description L’idea di un circuito a Watkins Glen, piccola cittadina nello stato di New York è attribuita a Cameron Argetsinger, studente di legge, che pare avesse disegnato un circuito stradale sfruttando le strade perimetrali della cittadina. La prima gara si svolse il 2 ottobre 1948. Considerato troppo pericoloso, viene deciso di costruire, nella medesima zona, un circuito permanente; nel mentre dal 1953 ci si sposta su un altro circuito stradale
