MUGELLO, CIRCUITO STRADALE
SORRY, SOME DATA ARE NOT TRANSLATED YET
Not to be confused with Mugello - Mugello (196x) - San Piero a Sieve (1967) - San Piero a Sieve, Circuito della Fortezza
Description The old Mugello road track was used from 1914 to 1970. Approx. half circuit was on "Strada Statale 65" (National road S.S. 65), often used also by Mille Miglia (but usually from Firenze to Bologna, i.e. in the contrary direction).
My map is drawn on a map dated 1916 and it shows original configuration used until 1924. From 1966 the circuit went round San Piero a Sieve village, on the same via Massarondinaia used also by San Piero a Sieve circuit for a Formula 3 race in 1967. I don’t know how the circuit layout changed from 1924 to 1965, nor I have any info about short 18 km layout used in 1925.
After this track was abandoned, in 1971 Circuito della Fortezza and on June 23rd 1974 Autodromo del Mugello were opened. Then the old circuit was used only for parades.

According to Lanfranco Villani start line was in San Piero a Sieve (at least in 1920s) and today in that place there should be a little monument dedicated to Emilio Materassi.
I drove start/finish line in this position, but probably later it was move to Scarperia.
