MONT-TREMBLANT
SORRY, SOME DATA ARE NOT TRANSLATED YET
Description Mont Tremblant circuit is located in the surroundings of Tremblant Village, near Mont Tremblant skiing facilities, not far from Saint-Jovite in the marvellous Laurentides landscape. It was opened on August 3rd, 1964 in the shortest layout, the "Short Track" (later on renamed North Loop), a 1.5 miles long track with 12 turns. During the following year, in August, the full track was opened, extending its length to 2.65 miles with a total of 15 turns. The circuit features so many ups and downs that Jacky Stewart defined it a "mini-Nürburgring", making this track very selective and dangerous.

In recent Years FIA forced the circuit owners to enlarge gravel traps and widen the roadway, in order to renew international races homologation for the track. The lack of room for gravel traps is a big trouble, especially at first turn after start because Le Diable river lies behind it not permitting any safety area extension.

They looked for different solutions and decided to extend pit lane, sharpen the kink before start/finish straight and create a chicane on the inside of the long right-hander bend. Moreover the circuit layout was deeply changed at the intersection between North Loop and the remaining part of the track. A linking road, parallel to North Loop’s one, was then built to make Southern part independent, thus creating a 1.19 miles long circuit known as South Loop.

Mont Tremblant hosted Canadian Formula 1 GP alternating with Mosport: after 1968 and 1970 events, 1972 GP was dropped because of safety and mostly economic issues that leaded to a temporary shut down of the circuit.

From June 29th to July 1st, 2007 Mont Tremblant will host Champ Car for the first time because the Series lost its venue in Montreal. The track has not many grandstands, but a lot of natural observation spots from where you can watch the race. Most of these are far far away from circuit entrance: some of them are 2 km - 1.2 mi. away and you have to walk through the woods near the track to reach them.

For 2008 race they planned to prepare a motorhome camping area to improve hospitality
